Making a mistake will give the defuser a strike, and the bomb will explode after a certain number of strikes is reached regardless of how much time is left. Įach bomb contains several modules that must be deactivated before the timer on the bomb runs out. The manual may be printed or viewed online at. The two teams do not have visible access to each other's information and must defuse the bomb strictly through conversation. The players not inspecting the bomb have access to a physical manual containing information on how to solve each module. One player inspects the bomb on a monitor or while wearing VR goggles and uses a controller to interact with the bomb's modules. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a game in which two or more players simulate a bomb disposal team. So what can I say? KTANE is the game for your next party, reunion or get together! It has remarkably simple mechanics combined with intense, challenging gameplay that make it appealing to everyone.Overview A page from the bomb disposal manual. This means there is almost endless possible game play and plenty of explode-y goodness! The game is also available on the virtual reality Steam Vive system, allowing the defuser a more "hands on" approach! The game was also added to the Steam workshop where players have begun adding mods to the game that provide endless new modules (with corresponding manual instructions). KTANE is highly replayable as each bomb is randomly generated with different modules each round. It's an intense challenge that gets the blood pumping! It is one of those games that pits the entire team against the game: there is only one goal in KTANE and that is to safely disarm the bomb. It provides an incredible challenge and really forces people think about their communication (you have to be incredibly precise: a password could be "your", "you're", "you are", "ur", or "u r"). KTANE is an incredibly cooperative game meaning that everyone feels involved in the brief rounds. But beware! With each strike, the time until detonation speeds up! Some bombs will detonate on the first strike, others will allow 3. The player looking at the bomb will have to know the device intimately: what is the serial number, how many batteries does it have, what kind of external port? The manual experts will have to speed read their manual and convey directions to the defuser as quickly as they can. Some modules, called "needy modules" will require constant attention and must be dealt with consistently until the bomb is disarmed or explodes. They will have to work together to cut the correct wires, solve mazes, play inverted Simon Says, decode Morse code, press correct buttons in sequence and figure out passwords. During this time, the players must be in constant communication as they disarm all the modules. This game relies entirely on good communication, quick thinking and speedy responses. The defuser is never allowed to look at the manual and the experts can not look at the bomb. The rest of the group are the "bomb-defusing experts" these players have a literal manual (over 20 pages!), and their goal is to direct the defusing player on how to safely disarm the bomb. They are responsible for following the instructions to disarm the thing before everyone dies. One player is the defuser this is the only player that can look at the computer and the bomb. Now like I said, this is not a game for a solo players, this is a group headache (lol). Once all these puzzle modules have been solved, the bomb is disarmed. The bomb is covered in different types of modules each module is some sort of puzzle and must be deactivated to diffuse the bomb. Each round, the computer will display a bomb each bomb is just a little bit different in terms of what is required to defuse it. The goal is simple: diffuse the bomb before time runs out and the bomb explodes. KTANE is a team based bomb defusing game. Now, for those of you who aren't big video gamers (or don't play any video games at all) don't skip over this post! KTANE is a great game for parties or small gatherings and it is incredibly simple in terms of mechanics even my mother could enjoy this! It's not so much a computer game as it is a group game that simply requires a computer to play (weird, I know, but I'll explain!). It's been a while since I did a game review so I figure it's time I did a review of one of my most recent favorites, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes! or KTANE for short.
